We collect information you provide directly — such as your name, email address, profile details, messages you post (for Messagers), and support enquiries. When you donate, payment details (e.g. card number) are collected and processed by Stripe; Messager does not store full card numbers on our servers. We also collect usage data (device type, app interactions, push notification tokens) and cookies on our website as described below.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate Messager, authenticate users, process donations, allocate vote credits, facilitate Messager payouts, send service notifications, prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, and improve the Platform. With your consent where required, we may send product updates or marketing communications you can opt out of at any time.
3. Payment Processing (Stripe)
Donations and payouts are processed by Stripe, Inc. and its affiliates. When you pay, Stripe collects payment method details, billing information, and transaction metadata on our behalf. Stripe's use of your data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy (https://stripe.com/privacy). Messager receives limited transaction data (amount, status, last four digits, country) needed to record donations, distribute funds, and comply with financial regulations. Messagers completing payout onboarding may need to provide additional identity documents to Stripe or our payout partners.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with trusted service providers who help us operate Messager — including Stripe (payments), cloud hosting, email delivery, analytics, and identity verification — under contracts that require them to protect your data. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer.
5. Data Security
We implement technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure payment handling via Stripe. No online service is completely secure; please use a strong password and contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. UK and EEA residents have additional rights under UK GDPR / GDPR. To exercise your rights, email privacy@getmessager.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
